Losing focus

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This blog is getting impersonal, which really saddens me. On one hand, I'm ridiculously happy that my mommy blog has grown more than 100% since end of 2011. But on the other hand, the rapid growth has resulted to a lot of gifts (that I have to blog about, of course) and sponsored posts and contests. I find myself just talking about these things when all I really want is talk about motherhood and my beautiful kids!

I'm not complaining. At least, I don't want to. Am I lucky or what, right?! My blog is getting lots of attention. That's a good thing! I'm getting gifts and income. That's even better! But at the same time, I feel like my voice is drowning in the sea of branding.

I guess I just need to think about how to balance this. Do the contest and sponsored posts bother you? Can you still hear me? I don't want to give up the sponsored posts because they earn money, and—I'm a homemaker!—I need that income! Maybe I should just do a maximum of 4 sponsored/gifted/contest posts a month. After all, my loyalty is to you, my reader, and to my mommy self. Let's make ourselves happy first by talking about what matters most to us—our families. I'll deal with the brands later.

Big heavy sigh.

Okay, I'm done. I've reminded myself why I have this blog. If I ever start straying from this blog's purpose, tell me in the comments section using ALL CAPS!!! And thank you, everyone. You've been really good to me. Love you all!

  1. Hi Frances! I'm a loyal reader of your blogs from Topaz Horizon to this one. And I don't think this blog has strayed away from being a personal mommy blog. You still talk about how you love being a mommy, about your sons, about Vince. Sure, you give away stuff but you're still able to incorporate your voice in those posts. You never really blog like you just copy and paste from a leaflet of a product. Frankly, if you have been one of those bloggers who only post about sponsored posts, I wouldn't be reading your blog anymore.

But okay sige in case that happens, I will comment in ALL CAPS. :)

Thanks for blogging and sharing with us how you are as a mom!

  2. Hi Frances! I think your idea of having a maximum no. of sponsored posts is good enough. I do understand that you need the income too! Don't worry too much because I still love your blog even with the sponsored posts. But I do miss seeing more photos of Vito & Iñigo. They're super cute!!! :)

  3. Hey Frances, I'm not at all bothered with your sponsored posts. I find some of them informative actually.
But to be honest, I'm always excited to read stories about your mommyhood journey, adjustments on being a working mom. Cute and silly stories about your marriage and your hubby. And some of your work stuff.
    Keep it up!

  4. Thanks, Cris, May and Mafeth! I miss posting photos of my sons, too! Make friends with Vince on Facebook—he posts photos of the boys on his account all the time! =D

Thank you for your support and encouragement. It's readers like you who keep me going! =)
