Up still makes me cry!

Vito was watching this with me. When he saw the young Ellie and Carl, he shouted happily, "Mama! Papa!" So cute to see he recognizes that his parents' love is the same as Ellie and Carl's. Then when he saw them getting old, he sat up very straight and cried, "Oh no! Oh no!" And then, in a panic, "No, Mama! No, Papa!"

Again, I cried. Well, not at that moment because I found Vito's reaction hilarious. I cried later on. I don't know how my son understood the concept of old age. Or maybe he didn't think it was old age, maybe he thought they were just getting unattractive? I don't really know.

What I do know is Vince and I will get old. One day, we will die. I just pray—and I pray this very often and very earnestly!—that God keep us alive and healthy up until our sons have families of their own. As soon as they have new people in their lives who will love them and who they'll love, I'd be glad to leave this earth and float away. But not before then!

  1. I remember watching this movie with my husband and hearing him sniffle during the first five minutes (the best part, right?)... even before I did! :)

  2. this movie makes me cry too every time i watch it.

  3. I can feel you, Frances. Now I feel a bit mellow dramatic.

  4. This is one of my favorite movie too! I watched this for the first time as an inflight movie bound to LA and I cried at the first 2 minutes of the film. it was pretty much embarrassing and i try to conceal my tears to the person i am seated the next with :)

This is all pretty new to me so please feel free to share your mommy wisdom!
