Happy Holidays!

Dearest darling readers,

Thank you for being a blessing to me and my family this year. Thank you for the good will, the love and encouragement, the prayers, and the gifts. You have truly blessed us. I send you God's blessings of love, peace, and abundance, too! Merry Christmas!

What I want from Quirks

Since the one thing I want this Christmas won't be mine till January, let me tell you what I'm thinking of getting from Quirks instead. And, boy oh boy, there's a lot to love from Quirks!

This novelty shop is owned (with her sisters) by a dear friend who's also a mommy to a cute little boy. Zerline is one of the fabulous women who inspired me to give up the corporate world and strike it out on my own. She had a really cushy job at a luxury brand with great benefits but she quit it to spend more time with her husband and baby. She tells me she's much happier now. I totally believe her! I wish for myself the same WAHMderful life! Actually, I already am enjoying my new life. It's not easier. It's actually busier but, my goodness, it's so much more satisfying!

In case you, my dear friends and family, are still shopping for gifts for me and my boys, here's a list of what we'd love to get:
Bloom Utensil Set, P1995
Because now that I'm spending more time at home, I can cook again. Even though I don't really like to cook! These fun utensils might just change my mind!

Hummingbird Tags, P395 for a pack of six
We're always entertaining, and sometime during the course of dinner, someone always says, "Which one's my glass?" This should address that problem!

Mighty Case for laptop, P1250
Because I'm a newspaper columnist now!

Par Avion Card case, P395
For my credit cards. I keep them separate.

Par Avion Travel Case Holder, P450
This will be very handy for when I'm flying! Great idea to keep all travel documents in a kit.

Construction Utensils, P590
To encourage my toddler to feed himself!

Crayon Blocks, P295
Well, crayons are actually contraband in our house (special permission needed before crayons are released!) but I think these are so clever and cool!

Ouchlets Outlet Covers, P350
Because Vito now likes plugging and unplugging the appliances.

Sun Jar, P1350
Because I broke Vince's Sun Jar and he's been heartbroken since.

There are more fabulous stuff on the Quirks online shop! Or you can visit their brick-and-mortar stores at Power Plant and Megamall. Support fellow WAHMs and buy your gifts from Zerline's quirky Quirks!

Our Christmas family photo by Blow-Up Babies

Early Christmas gift! Blow-Up Babies gifted my family with a photo shoot, big prints and 10 Christmas cards to give to family and friends! Thanks, Blow-Up Babies!

I was really happy about this because we never have a complete family photo—Vince is always the one taking our pictures. So here was our chance! Hooray! Except that, wow, it is very hard to have a photo shoot with little kids! Let the pictures tell the story...

Vito played with the plethora of accessories and props.
Iñigo got excited by all the colors and lights!
But when it came time to face the camera, Vito didn't want his photo taken!
Here he is pointing at the door.
Now it's Iñigo who's restless!
And there we all go!

It's a miracle we even got some good shots! Lessons learned:
1. Arrive early so kids have time to settle in and get to know the place.
2. Let your kids meet and befriend the photographer first so he/she isn't a stranger.
3. Book a time slot when the kids aren't tired or hungry. We went late afternoon. Oops.

And here are our photos! These are big, 8R size I think. I'm not familiar with the terms. Basta as big as a bond paper!
The Christmas photo cards are 4R size.

Come have your own Christmas photo cards made! Blow-Up Babies will take your photos, Photoshop your flaws away (haha), print out the best pictures and make your photo cards all in 4 days! You still have time, mommies! Book a session now! This is their website. This is their Facebook page. Have fun!

The only thing I want this Christmas: Biscoff!!!

I have met my undoing. And its name is Biscoff.

I first encountered this jar of amazing stuff a few weeks ago at my friend Paola's tea party. She is the one woman behind lactation goodies, Mommy Treats. But for her tea party, there were non-galactagogues, just tasty breads and fruity teas and then there was Biscoff. It has haunted me since.
Paola, the girl in teal, is always making me eat. At her Thanksgiving party, I gained 3 lbs that night.
That's Martine of Dainty Mom, my blogging and freelance writing mentor.

The littlest lady in our tea party indulges.

So I got a jar from Lorena and Loreta. One jar. I thought it would be enough. Lorena and Loreta teased me in their note that that one jar won't last till the January shipment. I got it last week. Seven days later, today, this is what's left.

Lorena and Loreta, my jar didn't even make it to Christmas! I need my Biscoff fix! I can't wait for my orders to arrive! I don't even remember how many jars I ordered. I do know now that I shoulda ordered double!

Get your own jar of Biscoff Spread here. But be warned: There's a long waiting list! Don't hesitate to order and order more than you think you need!

S**t Preschoolers Say!

Yes, you read that title right. S**t Preschoolers Say is my favorite new blog! The author is a preschool teacher named Marisa and she collects the funniest, silliest, cutest, sometimes profound things her students say.

If you're a parent of preschoolers, please be warned that your kids provide hilarious entertainment to their teachers. I used to be a preschool teacher. I taught kids aged 4-5 at Ingenium School in Marikina. Every day, my co-teachers and I laugh at the stuff we've found out about our kids' parents. For example:
Nico, 4 (before putting a cookie in his mouth): My cookie is my tongue. See? My tongue is very long!
Sam, 4: That's not long. My mommy and daddy have veeeeery loooooong tongues. They lick each other's faces before they sleep.
Here are a few of my favorites from Teacher Marisa's blog:

Vito is 2 years old so he's not technically a preschooler yet. But he did make me laugh when he said, "Hi, chicks!"

Meanwhile, I need to nap now. I'm going to outer space tonight, too. Have a great weekend!

Vito loves Iñigo

My sons adore each other. They truly cannot get enough of each other. Were it not for one boy being littler than the other, you'd think they were twins. That's how close they are!

A few months ago, maybe when Iñigo was just 2 months old, whenever he'd cry, it's Vito who would come running to get me. At first I thought Vito got upset by the noise but I realized soon enough that I was wrong. As soon as Vito saw me carry his baby brother and put the baby to my breast and the baby quieted down, Vito would nod with approval and go back to whatever he was doing.

Vito rocks Iñigo to sleep
Now, Vito and Iñigo wake up together, always before their parents do. This used to make me panic because, well, Vito might hurt the baby. Everyone says that. But Vito doesn't. At dawn, Vito always chatters away with Iñigo and the little one tries to talk back. They kinda seem to understand each other. They have long conversations in the darkness. Then when the sun is up, Vito climbs down the bed for his breakfast, and wakes me up to carry Iñigo out. It is imperative that his baby brother goes with him. Vito doesn't like being separated from Iñigo!

Vito shares his most precious toy. But we lost Lightning in the playground.
I've caught Vito entertaining Iñigo. He likes to play peek-a-boo with the baby. Or doing slapstick comedy like falling into a pile of pillows on the bed, which never fails to make Iñigo squeal with laughter. He also likes telling the little one stories and use his toys as characters in a play that only he understands and only Iñigo appreciates. One time, Vince was in the bathroom and flushed the toilet. Vito gasped at Iñigo and said, "Wha dat, baby?" When Iñigo smiled at him, Vito replied, "Papa! Water!" He's already being a teacher!

Wherever Vito goes, Iñigo follows!
Vito's also very protective. He doesn't like it when other people carry Iñigo. He also stands guard when Iñigo happens to be near the edge of the bed or the sofa (don't worry, I'm there). Vito would cry, "No, baby!" and drag Iñigo to safety. Even at just 2 years old, Vito looks out for his brother. When the baby is crying, he offers Iñigo his bottle of milk (haha) or his precious toy cars. His ears are sharp for any tiny cry and small whimper. He'd call my attention immediately: "Mama! Baby!"

Vito telling Iñigo a story using Bitbit.
The only things he won't share? The iPad and Bitbit the Rabbit. But we're working on that. I had all these fears that Vito might feel jealous of Iñigo, that this jealousy might spark resentment and rivalry. But seeing what I see now, every single day, I believe that my eldest will take care of my youngest, that my youngest has someone to look up to, that my sons will always have each other, that they will share a bond that will not include Vince or me. They will be true brothers. And my heart is comforted and proud.

Our two-car garage

I've got a home big enough for two vehicles. I tell ya, folks, I'm so rich, my heart can't contain it! Never been as happy as I am today. Thank You, God, for my abundant life!
